As promised, some of the food pic inside my SE.
1) Went to Pasta Mania @ CCK the other day. The service is rather slow, or perhaps due to heavy traffic during peak hour. Nevertheless, the food there are splendid.
We had one soup of the day/pepsi/garlic bread each. His is v creamy while mine is a bit sourish and sweet, not bad.
I had my baked rice with loads of cheese. I like melting cheese a lot, can even diy to put on top of sardine/prawns/crab stick then micro, damn delicious tell u.
The pizza oso din fail us, crispy yet tasty. Went dine-in @ Pizza Hut with mum another day and realise their Pizza now is so-so only.
2) Another trip to Bento Box. Like their presentation of food v much, colors, varieties, price... But too bad their food does not taste a fraction of what they seem to be. Guess it will be the last time to visit there as hawker centres sell tastier food at even cheaper price.
Had tom yam this time, v affordable especially if u r student. Lotsa ingredients inside like prawns, sotong, mushroom A, mushroom B, egg... But somehow like all their other pre-heated food, the noodles is one cold lump and the ingredients are not fresh either.
Had a bento box there too which can choose up to 3 combinations. The tempura ebi not bad but the fish tastes really weird. Guess they keep their ingredients for quite long and heat it everytime before serving.
3) Another recommendable place is Penang restaurant @ JP new building. Went with a fren for her birthday then subsequently thrice more with frenz. Their white fish laksa and prawn mee are to kill for and everytime will order them with frenz so can share share ma.
The orange soup base prawn mee with v heavy prawn taste. All prawn lovers would love this!!! To think about it, prawn is most versatile food to be added to rice, maggie mee, chawamushi (not hard to cook at all) and can be fried, steamed, ketchup, BBQ, anything. Send my sympathy to those who cant eat prawns. ^^
Their white fish Penang laksa is another hot seller. I like the spicy/sour/tasty white fish soup base which is v appetising. The downfall is they quite kiam siap with the fish meat, only 2-3 chunks.
Another trip for their prawn mee and laksa.
Their oyster omlette also not bad, quite a lot of oh chee inside and not v oily too.
4) Went to Dian Xiao Er with fren @ Vivo after our free B&J cones. Ordered 4 dishes, 1 rice, 1 soup for two persons damn sinful. Their food taste delicious, ambience v fu gu like ancient China and service is excellent too.
I like their decor with a touch of being at ancient China, one would imagine a swordsman/swordswoman will suddenly pop up somewhere, HAHA. They also serve you roasted peanuts and those old old kind of menu and I ordered their Nu Er Hong to try, taste like...weird.
Their signature big prawn, v fresh and big prawns indeed. Guess all prawns do not taste bad as long as they r fresh ba.
Their sigature dish, roasted herbal duck. Although no crispy skin like Peking duck, it tastes tender and juicy with a hint of herbal, amazingly not oily/bitter too.
The only disappointing dish, dunoe wat improvised tofu with brocolli. A rubbery feel and we cant even finish them.
Fragrant and tasty seafood fried rice with lots of seafood, even have big prawns inside. Actually to fry rice with high standard is not easy at all, normally the most simple task demands a lot of foundation from the chief.
Fish maw soup with mushroom, scallops etc which goes perfectly with the seafood fried rice. Guess all soup are not bad as long as made with fresh ingredients.
Dong Po meat/braised pork meat, which comes from the great poetic man Su Dong Po who likes it a lot. The good thing is we also like it a lot.
Last pic of the day, my new or old hair cut. Love how attentive the hairdresser were while cutting my hair, heh. ^^
